Google has stopped manufacturing the first edition of Google Glass and the Glass Explorer Program has already ended. In early 2015, Google announced that the company is moving on from Google X Labs and Google Glass Explorer Edition and will instead focus on manufacturing other versions of Glass. However, though the project might have ended, it does in no way mean that all the components used to make Google Glass Explored Edition have been thrashed too. And if an eBay seller is to be believed, all the materials are with him and now up for sale on the e-commerce portal. The listing by the US seller ‘product54_corp‘ on eBay US was first discovered by Google9to5. All the parts and tools used to make the Google Glass have already been listed on the site and are available at prices starting as low as $40 (approximately Rs 2,550) to as high as $595 (approximately Rs 38,000). The items do not come with any identifiable logo or marks, though each of the items is detailed by the seller. Some of the items are listed as ‘used’ items meaning Google perhaps used the products and then replaced them with an alternative for the final version. The seller mentions that all the parts were purchased from Google in a lot from among thousands of Google Glass materials labeled as “scrap”. The seller also claims that the materials have already been disposed or sold off. Those that have been sold off have been done so through different avenues – some to private buyers and some sold off at auctions. Some were sold as mass lots to random buyers who then sold these on third-party sites. From the prism used for making the glass to the holograms, each part is listed on eBay. There are also rare glass prisms which Google initially considered but later replaced with a plastic prism in the final version.
