Google is in the process of revamping all of its applications and give them material theme user interface. So far, the search giant has redesigned a number of apps with the modern design language, including Android Messages, Calendar, Google Photos to name a few. The latest app to get Material Theme UI is Google Home.
Alongside Material Theme user interface, the app also comes with a completely reorganized app interface for smart home devices. This isn’t surprising considering Amazon recently redesigned its own Alexa application on Android and iOS with easier and colorful user interface for controlling smart home devices. This new redesign with focus on smart home control goes well with Google Home Hub, which was introduced in New York early this week.
The app, of course, has that usual interface as part of Material Theme that brings an updated fonts and icons to go with the overhaul visual redesign. The main page now shows all the devices in your smart home, according to b. At the top, there are a few shortcuts called “Quick Actions.”
Google generates these quick actions automatically but they can also customized and all the devices are then organized by room underneath. This arrangement makes it easier to control smart devices and use the Google Home app as a controller for smart home devices.

The controls have the new UI that first appeared with the update on Google Assistant. With updated Google Home app, there is also the ability to add people to your smart home. Previously, other household members had to independently add smart devices to their account and now, all the smart home functions can be shared with other members of the household. The update is now rolling out from the Play Store.
