Google will be holding an event on October 4 where it is expected to unveil the next generation Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. Alongside the Pixel 2 series, Google is also rumored to launch a mini version of its smart speaker Home, and a new Chromebook as well. The Google Home Mini will be powered by Google Assistant, and is said to be priced at $49 which translates to approximately Rs 3,200. The original Google Home currently retails at $129 (approximately Rs 8,400). As reported by Droid Life, the Google Home Mini will be powered and not wireless. It will perform functions like Google Home including setting schedules, reminders, reading news, playing music, among others. In terms of design, the Google Home Mini doesn’t have the cylindrical top as the Google Home Mini. The speaker is covered with a mesh fabric except for its base. The base of the smart speaker also have different colors in accordance to the color on top. It comes in three colors of Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral.
The report further states that unlike the Google Home, the mini version will not come with the option to swap bases. On top there are four lights similar to the LED lights available on the Google Home. The attached wire at the rear of the smart speaker is also visible in the images. Google Home Mini will possibly compete against Amazon’s Echo Dot. But eventually, the battle remains between the Alexa and Assistant. Coming to the new Chromebook, it’s official name is reportedly called “Pixelbook”. The Pixelbook will be able to fold into a tablet, and will come with a Pixelbook Pen. The Pixelbook is said to come in silver color, and three storage variants of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. It is also said to be priced higher than the existing Chromebooks, with the 128GB model starting at $1,199 (approximately Rs 77,200). The 256GB and 512GB models are expected to be priced at $1,399 (approximately Rs 90,100) and $1,749 (approximately Rs 1.2 lakh) respectively. Google has almost all its products leaked, unless they have something else to unveil at the event. Prior to the Google Home Mini and Pixelbook leaking, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were also victims.
