We have been waiting for a native Docs app from Google for a while now and today looks like the beginning when MS Office suite makers should start rethinking their future. Google today announced its Docs app for Android, which won’t only enable users to create new documents and spreadsheets but also share them with contacts stored on their phone. It will also open file attachments from mails and can sync with multiple Google accounts. The unique feature, however, is ‘document from photo’ that converts text in a photo to a document, using Google’s Optical Character Recognition technology. We believe it is only a matter of time before Google launches it for iOS and other smartphone platforms. We are downloading the app as we file this story and will revert soon with a review. Update: Seems like we jumped the gun over here. The app, though pretty handy, has a lousy editor. It is the same online editor as Google announced last year, which opens in a browser. So you have to be online to edit existing or create new documents. Also Read - New Android Auto feature lets you easily reply to texts while driving: How it works
