Google Maps has introduced some significant changes in its latest app update. It brings along UI improvements, redesigned transit directions feature and maps sharing options among other regular bug fixes. One of the most significant change the new version brings is that it will let users hide all unnecessary user interface elements while using the map view. One single tap will remove unnecessary interface elements like the search bar or quick-launch for directions.Tapping the screen again brings back all the fields. 2. Redesigned Transit Directions
The update also has redesigned and improved transit directions. It brings deeper integration to show more route choices and real-time arrival information wherever available.
3. Maps sharing option
With the new update, Google Maps introduces the ability to share a place on other apps and platforms. The company particularly mentions that maps can now also be shared on Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
4. Google Photos integration
It also brings Google Photos integration which will allow you to edit the captions for geo-tagged photos directly from the Maps app. For iOS, Google has also introduced Image Gallery for a quick visual understanding of a place through a grid view.
