Google Maps for Android app can navigate to multiple destinations, here's how it works

Here's a simple trick that will let users navigate to multiple destinations using Google Maps on Android.


While Google Maps on Android let users navigate to destinations without the need for an Internet connection, it is restricted to navigation from point A to point B. In other words, you cannot add multiple destinations along a single route. While Google has yet to officially introduce this feature, Android Police has revealed a simple solution that requires a bit of help from a desktop. google-maps-android-trick-2Google lets you search for directions from one place to another, and send it to a phone or tablet, but if it includes multiple destinations along a single route you will encounter an error message — ‘Not supported with multiple destinations’. There is however a simple solution to how you can send directions to a mobile device and it only requires you to copy the URL. Here’s how it works. Once you have charted a route with multiple destinations on a Windows PC, Mac or Chromebook, simply copy the URL from the address bar. Then send it to yourself via a chat app or email, which you can then access from your phone or tablet.

google-maps-android-trick-3On your phone or tablet click on the link and open it on Google Maps. Your route will show up on the app, and you can immediately start turn-by-turn navigation. We tried out this method, and it works well. This will turn out to be a boon for people planning a long road trip, and who need to take a detour along the way. The reason it works so well could be a hint that Google is about to introduce the feature on its Android app.

Google has recently updated Maps in India with new features. One new feature let users see stops along the way including petrol pumps, restaurants and shopping malls. While the other feature introduced earlier this week, offered users a detailed view at traffic along the way. It not only suggested alternate routes, but also revealed how long you could be stuck in a jam.
