Google Maps is one handy app for people to navigate in not only new places but even in their own residing places. With each update, Google has been integrating features which is aimed at making Maps more efficient for its users. Just recently Google Maps enabled the Wi-Fi-only mode to save mobile data for subscribers who rely on mobile data for their internet use. A new update is available for Android users as Google Maps is now interconnected with Google s Calendar app. With this new update, the events that are updated on the Calendar app will be synced with Google Maps and one can easily access the directions of their saved events. For this to work properly, one needs to fill in the address in the Where box so that the location will appear on Google Maps. One also needs to be signed in to both Google Maps and Google Calendar at the same time. To view this, select the sidebar menu on Google Maps which is located on the top left corner of the search bar. After that, select Your Places , wherein you will notice a new tab called Upcoming . On selecting that, the events that have been entered with the proper address on Google Calendar can be seen.
The list of events entered on Calendar app will be visible on the Upcoming tab. On selecting the event, it will lead you right to the address with the directions as seen on Maps. Next to the name of the event, is an option when clicked gives you the option of viewing the event or dismissing it. So you can easily hide the event by clicking on the Dismiss option. This feature is currently available for Android users only.
Google has also enabled interactive icons which can be used on the Home and Work address options under the Labeled tab. The icons are in the form of different homes and work places and you can choose which fits the closest to your home or work place. Google has also made using its digital assistant OK Google for Maps. If there are places you frequent, then you can label them and enter a name. This makes it easier to simply say, OK Google, navigate to home, for example. Google already includes the confirmation emails received for hotel, flight or restaurant reservations on your Gmail to Maps. Now you can view those events as well on the Upcoming tab under Your Places . Google contacts have also been integrated on Google Maps. So now you can directly search for your contacts address on Google Maps, provided the address is attached with the contact from before. There is a new Personal Content manager as well under Your Places which can be located by selecting the settings option. Under that, one has the options to toggle on and off for categories like Labels, Google Contacts, Upcoming events, Google Photos and more. With this, one can easily monitor which locations and addresses are shown on Google Maps for future references.
