It has not been even three months that the LG made Google Nexus 4 has been in the market and we are already talking about a new Nexus device that would succeed the Nexus 4. But all this is coming after LG s James Fisher went off track at the company s CES press conference and hinted at more incoming Nexus hardware made by LG. He said the Nexus 4 was the first of many . It only takes a spark to ignite a fire and today on Korean tech forum RuliWeb someone has allegedly leaked the specs of the next generation of Google s Nexus line the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7. The forum suggests that both these devices will be unveiled at Google I/O in May. Now there is no way to ascertain if these specs are a figment of someone s imagination or the real deal. The mentioned specs state that the Nexus 5 will be a 5-inch smartphone with a display with a 1920×1080 pixels converting to 440 pixels per inch with a bezel measuring just 1mm. It will have the latest Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. It will be available for an expected price of $299 for the 8GB model. Also Read - Google Pixel, Nexus smartphones start getting June security patch
For the Nexus 7.7, the forum thread suggests that it will have a 7.7-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels converting to 294 pixels per inch. It will also be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and will have 2GB of RAM and will also have 720p front and rear camera. It will also have an expected starting price of $299 for the 8GB model.
It does not take a genius to whip up these specs considering this is more or less what we expect a flagship device to have in the first half of 2013.
Additionally, we have already seen The International Business Times report that the Nexus 5 could be incoming with a 2GHz quad-core processor and Android 5.0 which is rumored to be Key Lime Pie. The report also claims that the Nexus 5 could be launched as soon as next month and claims that LG has already stopped production of the Nexus 4.
We take the claim of the Nexus 5 launching next month with a bit of caution as Nexus hardware has traditionally been unveiled at either Google I/O or at a dedicated Google event. But we also do believe that LG could have stopped production of the Nexus 4 to make way for the Nexus 5 as the product is not easily available.
Consumers have faced difficulty in getting their hands on the product and LG and Google have not released the device in many markets including India. This is of note as we ourselves exclusively reported in November that LG was planning to launch the Nexus 4 in India in late November, but to date the device has not been released. Additionally, LG India s Amit Gujral had stated back in November that the Nexus 4 was coming to India later in the month.
Recent reports now suggest that the Nexus 4 could come to India in late January, so that does not happen then we will have a better idea of what LG is up to regarding both the Nexus 4 and the rumored Nexus 5.
