Google Now is the smartest virtual assistant available on smartphones and tablets, according to a digital marketing firm Stone Temple. The marketing group pit the Google Now, Apple’s Siri, and Microsoft’s Cortana against each other in a long quiz to see how these virtual digital assistants answered specific questions. Of the 3,086 questions asked, Google Now was able to answer 58 percent correctly out of which it returned 88 percent with enhanced results, while Apple’s Siri returned only 29 percent enhanced results from the 53 percent questions it answered correctly, and Microsoft’s Cortana bagged the third position with 20 percent enhanced results from the 40 percent right answers. Before you start teasing your friends who use Apple and Microsoft smartphones, do note that this was not an ordinary test. The digital marketing firm was preferring “enhanced results” over the plain web results. The study didn’t take in account how accurate were these assistants at dictating words, nor did it consider its integration with other apps. While ‘knowledge panels’ could be considered more accurate and useful, but is it the best way to measure a virtual assistant’s AI power, is highly debatable.
