While Samsung has launched its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +, now we await the launch of the Apple iPhone 8. However, there is another player who is eyeing the crown in the premium smartphone segment. Google’s self-branded Pixel series had received wide acclaim and the company is now looking to replicate the same success with its new Pixel smartphones, conveniently dubbed as Pixel 2. The smartphone has been rumored for a lot of time now and various aspects have already been leaked. Now, we have come across a leaked render of the Google Pixel 2, revealing its design and new features. The render, first spotted by Androidheadline, reveals the front and back of the smartphone. The Google Pixel 2 seems very similar to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL in terms of design language. The render further shows that the smartphone will come with a half metal finish and half glass back at the back. This leak also looks similar to a concept image of the Pixel 2 that surfaced online back in April. However, what’s interesting is that the render shows that the Pixel 2 will come dual rear camera. The back panel also features a fingerprint scanner. Coming back to the camera, the smartphone is said to feature a pair of 16-megapixel rear cameras, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Apart from the design, the leak alleges that the Google Pixel 2 might be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC.
It is worth noting that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 chipset is said to be under development as of now. The company has not yet officially confirmed that it is working on a CPU that goes by the name Snapdragon 836 and so we would advise you to take the leak with a grain of salt.
From what we already know, Google’s upcoming smartphones are dubbed Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 XXL and have been hitting the rumor mills under the codename Muskie, Walleye and Taimen respectively.
