Google Pixel 2 alleged render hints at possible dual rear camera setup, bezel-less display

Google is expected to unveil three new smartphones in the Pixel 2 series this year.

Google-Pixel-2-render-leak

While Samsung has launched its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +, now we await the launch of the Apple iPhone 8. However, there is another player who is eyeing the crown in the premium smartphone segment. Google’s self-branded Pixel series had received wide acclaim and the company is now looking to replicate the same success with its new Pixel smartphones, conveniently dubbed as Pixel 2. The smartphone has been rumored for a lot of time now and various aspects have already been leaked. Now, we have come across a leaked render of the Google Pixel 2, revealing its design and new features. Also Read - HP Chromebook 11a review: Great for students, not so for professionals

The render, first spotted by Androidheadline, reveals the front and back of the smartphone. The Google Pixel 2 seems very similar to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL in terms of design language. The render further shows that the smartphone will come with a half metal finish and half glass back at the back. This leak also looks similar to a concept image of the Pixel 2 that surfaced online back in April. However, what’s interesting is that the render shows that the Pixel 2 will come dual rear camera. The back panel also features a fingerprint scanner. Coming back to the camera, the smartphone is said to feature a pair of 16-megapixel rear cameras, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Apart from the design, the leak alleges that the Google Pixel 2 might be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC.

It is worth noting that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 chipset is said to be under development as of now. The company has not yet officially confirmed that it is working on a CPU that goes by the name Snapdragon 836 and so we would advise you to take the leak with a grain of salt.

From what we already know, Google’s upcoming smartphones are dubbed Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 XXL and have been hitting the rumor mills under the codename Muskie, Walleye and Taimen respectively. As far as the specifications of the Google Pixel 2 is was earlier said to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, however, we can hope for an even more upgraded version of Snapdragon 835. Based on the previous listing, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, which currently powers the Andy Rubin s Essential Phone, Samsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphones. The dual rear camera setup is rumored to include a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor. On the software front, the smartphone is also expected to come loaded with Android O.

Another feature of the upcoming Google smartphone will be 4K UHD Premium Foveated Rendering, 10-bit 4K @60fps display capabilities, and more importantly, Q-SYNC. These capabilities would help the upcoming Pixel smartphones to run high-end mobile VR apps. Google s head of hardware Rick Osterloh hinted that Google will be following the same premium pricing strategy for the next-generation Pixel smartphones. To recap, prices for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL in India start from Rs 57,000. That said, there have been reports that Google is developing an affordable smartphone as well, codenamed Pixel 2B , which will be aimed at emerging markets.

If rumor mills are to be believed, the Pixel phones are pegged to launch in October this year.
