During the Big Shopping Days being held from December 7 to December 9, Flipkart is offering a flat discount of Rs 11,001 on the Pixel 2. Additionally, Pixel 2 buyers also get an additional discount of 10,000 on Credit or Debit Card payments. With the discounted price, Flipkart is also taking a subtle dig at OnePlus 5T, which is available exclusively with competitor Amazon India. Flipkart says it’s a no brainer when it comes to selecting between OnePlus 5T and Google Pixel 2. At Rs 39,999, the Google Pixel 2 becomes an attractive alternative to OnePlus 5T, which has thus far been considered the best smartphone in the sub-Rs 40k segment. The biggest selling point of the Pixel 2 is the dual-pixel camera, which is said to be considerably better than that of OnePlus 5T.
The Google Pixel 2 is largely similar to last year’s Pixel with small design tweaks like a smaller glass window at the back and the rear fingerprint sensor aligned seamlessly with the metal body. It features a 5-inch Full-HD AMOLED display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The smartphone comes with 4GB RAM and an option of either 64GB or 128GB internal storage. The discount seems to be applicable only on the 64GB model, from the text on the offer.
It sports a single 12MP rear camera with dual-pixels, which Google uses for producing portrait mode effect. Google has also added optical image stabilisation along with electronic image stabilisation for better low-light images. There is an 8MP front camera with 1.4 micron pixels and support for portrait mode that uses machine learning to blur the background.
The Google Pixel 2 runs Android 8.0 Oreo with the latest security patches and will get guaranteed software update for three years. The smartphone is backed by a 2700mAh battery and supports fast charging via USB Type-C port. It retails at Rs 61,000 for the 64GB variant and Rs 70,000 for the 128GB model. The handset will be available in Just Black, Clearly White and Kinda Blue colors and it is a no-brainer if your purchase decision is based on camera prowess of the smartphone.
