According to xda-developers, the new Pixel smartphones will come with dual stereo speaker setup up front. Apart from that, both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will offer Portrait Mode similar to what we have in the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. While the phone is rumored to sport a single camera, the company is said to use software to blur the background. Apart from that, the Pixel Launcher is getting a redesign that will shift the search bar at the bottom of the device. The report also suggests that the phones will come with a new Always Listening Music recognition feature. This feature will let the user know of a song played nearby on their lock screen.
Apart from that rumors suggest that unlike edge-to-edge displays on Samsung s flagship smartphones, the Pixel 2 will have a completely flat display. Going by the new images we have seen so far, Pixel 2 smartphones are expected to continue with the duo-tone rear panel, and metal unibody design. The fingerprint sensor, which was originally placed in the glass portion is now expected to be shifted to the aluminium portion of the device. Apart from that, the render also shows a single-lens camera placed at the top right-hand side of the smartphone. This is again in line with the renders we have come across before, which suggest that Google will be ditching the dual-camera setup at the back.
In terms of the pricing, the Pixel 2 prices are expected to start from $649 (Rs 41,800 approximately) for the 64GB variant, while the 128GB storage variant is expected to be priced at $749 (Rs 48,200 approximately). The larger Pixel 2 XL could cost around $849 (Rs 54,600 approximately) for 64GB storage, while the 128GB variant could cost up to $949 (Rs 62,100 approximately). Also, rumors suggest that the Pixel 2 will come in three color options Clearly White, Just Black and Kinda Blue. While the Pixel 2 XL will come in two color options Clearly White and Just Black.
In terms of other features and specifications, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are said to come with Active Edge feature that works in a similar manner as the Edge Sense on HTC U11. Squeezing the sides of the phone will activate Google Assistant. Apart from that, the Google Pixel 2 is also likely to come with IP68 certification. Reports also confirm that the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 instead of Snapdragon 836 SoC. Apart from this, the smartphone will run on Android s latest OS Android Oreo out-of-the-box. Apart from the display size and storage, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be the same in terms of other specifications.
Google will also launch a slew of other products such as new Chromebooks, Google Home 2, and more at the event on October 4.
