While there’s been quite a bit of buzz around the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and the Apple iPhone 8, let’s not forget Google’s next-generation Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Case-maker Olixar has put up renders of alleged cases for the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 online, Forbes reports. Surprisingly, the renders hint at a design that is not much unlike the first-generation Pixel smartphones. This happens to be in contrast with recent rumors, which have hinted at a tweaked design. While there’s time for the official launch, Forbes points out that case-maker Olixar has had a good track record of revealing smartphone designs ahead of launch.
Olixar managed to get designs of the Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 right before launch, and reports suggest that predictions made for the Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone 8 are going to be correct as well. Apart from that, Olixar has put Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 cases up from pre-order, with prices starting from $5.99 (approximately Rs 380).
Another set of cases for the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 have been spotted on Amazon. These cases too have been listed by a third-party case maker. ALSO READ: Google Pixel XL 2 imagined with refreshing design in latest render video
From the rumors we have come across so far, the Pixel smartphones are said to come with a tweaked design including near-invisible bezels and no 3.5mm audio jack. We have also come across 3D renders of the smartphone hinting that Google might ditch the dual-camera setup at the back, and instead opt for a single lens setup.
The Pixel 2 is expected to come with a 4.97-inch display with full HD resolution. It is likely to have 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage onboard. The Pixel XL 2, on the other hand, is likely to feature a 5.99-inch display with 1440p resolution. It is expected come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage onboard. If latest reports are anything to go by, the Google Pixel 2 smartphones are rumored to be powered by Qualcomm s upcoming Snapdragon 836 SoC.
The smartphones are further likely to come with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, which was missing from the previous Pixel. Google is also said to incorporate squeezable sides to trigger specific functions. The feature made its debut with the HTC U11 earlier this year. However, these are just rumors and advice you take them with a pinch of salt.
