Google Pixel 2 XL price slashed in India, weeks ahead of the launch of Pixel 3

Ahead of the launch of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL next month, Google seems to be getting rid of all the stocks of existing Pixel 2 smartphones. The Pixel 2 XL, larger of the two models, has reportedly received a price cut in India. The smartphone has reportedly received a price cut of more than 20 percent for the base model.

Google Pixel 2 XL: New Price in India

The Google Pixel 2 XL, which was launched in India in November last year, at a starting price of Rs 73,000 has reportedly received a price cut. The smartphone is said to now start at Rs 45,499 for the base model with 64GB storage. This accounts to nearly 40 price drop since the launch last year. The information regarding discounted price of the smartphone comes from Mumbai-based electronics retailer Mahesh Telecom and Google has confirmed to BGR India that the smartphone will indeed be available at a starting price of Rs 45,499.

To recall, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are available exclusively from Flipkart but the Indian e-commerce giant is yet to offer discounted price on its platform. The Pixel 2 XL is still listed to be available at a starting price of Rs 59,999 for the base storage variant. However, Google has not officially announced any price cut for the smaller Pixel 2 in India.

Google Pixel 2 XL: Specifications

Google Pixel 2 XL is the second generation ‘Made by Google’ smartphone that offers the best of Google experience. It features a 6-inch Quad HD+ P-OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The USP of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones is the camera, which uses Google’s own machine learning algorithms to offer features like portrait mode and HDR mode. The Pixel 2 XL has a 12-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus and optical image stabilization. It has an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture and equivalent focal length of 25mm.

The Pixel 2 XL is IP67 water and dust resistant, has an aluminum body with partial glass back. It supports single SIM and run Android 9 Pie with guaranteed upgrade to Android Q when it launches next year. It sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and packs a 3,520mAh battery.
