Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be the next major Android launch after Samsung makes Galaxy Note 9 official next week. In the past two years, Google has shown how serious it is about building its own hardware and how the experience can vary from those offered by its OEM partners. While we have already seen the upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in the form of renders, the specification of these new devices remain unknown.
Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are codenamed Blueline and Crosshatch, respectively. The first live photos of the Google Pixel 3 XL leaked last month. The pictures confirmed that Google is adopting notched display design with the Pixel 3 XL and will offer dual front camera setup. Now, a new set of images have appeared online that show the Pixel 3 XL in ‘Clearly White’ color variant.
The images obtained by XDA Junior Member dr.guru shows off the white back panel of the smartphone and white color around the edge of the device. One of the picture showing the bootloader information suggests this is an EVT 1.0 model (Engineering Validation Test) just like the one leaked last month. The leaked photos confirm the variant to offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The pictures also show front-facing stereo speaker setup similar to last year’s Pixel 2 XL, but the speaker assembly is more clear in these pictures. While these pictures don’t offer any new set of information, it just hints at all-glass back on the Pixel 3 XL. The image hints at glossy back at the top and matte finish on the bottom side of the device. These engineering models also don’t reveal whether the Pixel 3 XL has an OLED display, but Google will likely stick with OLED panels sourced from LG for its flagship hardware.
Most hardware companies run stages of engineering validation followed by design validation for their products before they commence mass production. Since Google launches its devices in October, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL must be well past the EVT stage and must be in DVT (Design Validation Test) stage. There is a possibility that some of the design elements might have changed. Since the actual source of these pictures is not known, it is advisable to take them with a grain of salt.

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are expected to have different design language this time as well. The Pixel 3 is expected to shed some of the bezels seen on current generation Pixel 2 while Pixel 3 XL will feature a notched display design. Both the smartphones are expected to sport OLED displays with taller aspect ratio and a glass back with support for wireless charging. A source code for Google app revealed that Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL might arrive with Pixel Stand, a wireless charging dock with Google Assistant features.
The specifications of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are not known yet but considering the buzz around these devices, we will soon have more updates from the supply side. Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were far from perfect and with Pixel 3 series, Google will be expected to nail design, performance and overall experience, if it hopes to compete with Apple.
