Google Pixel 3 XL left behind in Lyft

You would think that someone using a highly-confidential and yet-to-be-released smartphone would be extra careful with it, but people never cease to amaze us. A Google Pixel 3 XL was left behind in a Lyft (a ride-hailing service that takes on Uber in the US), and the images of this phone have promptly made it onto the internet. The images show the notch and more rumored features. The phone is set to launch in October this year.

UPI tops 300 million monthly transactions

Although the National Payments Corporation of India launched the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) system in mid-2016, it really picked up in use after the Government of India’s demonetization policy in November 2016. The system has since become a popular way to make digital cashless payments. NPCI now claims that the system registered over 300 million transactions in the month of August.

Realme 2 to go on sale on September 4

The latest smartphone from Oppo subsidiary Realme is set to go on sale on September 4 on Flipkart. The Realme 2 is priced at Rs 8,990, but buyers using HDFC Bank credit or debit cards are entitled to a further Rs 750 instant discount, bringing the price down to Rs 8,240.

Over 200 smartphones in India now support Airtel VoLTE

Airtel rolled out its VoLTE services in India exactly a year ago, and today the company has over 200 smartphones in the country that support the Airtel VoLTE service. The company announced that popular smartphones from brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, Apple, OnePlus and more support HD-quality voice audio on calls.

OnePlus could launch its 5G smartphone in January 2019

OnePlus earlier this year announced that it is already working on bringing a 5G smartphone in 2019, and the company today gave away a teaser that could indicate its timeline to do so. A teaser on the OnePlus Weibo page indicates that we could see the company’s first 5G smartphone as early as January 15, 2019.
