Google has started rolling out September security patch for its Pixel and Nexus devices. The Android security patch dated September 5, 2018 fixes 59 vulnerabilities that were found in the AOSP repository. Google notes that it resolved 24 problems on September 1, and has patched an additional 35 on September 5. The most severe of these fixed issues included a critical Android security vulnerability in Media framework that could enable a remote attacker. Fortunately, Google didn’t receive a single report of an attack because of this vulnerability.

Android partners are notified of all issues at least a month before publication. Source code patches for these issues will be released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository in the next 48 hours. We will revise this bulletin with the AOSP links when they are available,” noted Google.

Some of the fixed vulnerabilities could affect Qualcomm components, and Google says that severity assessment of these issues is provided directly by Qualcomm.

For Pixel devices, the update improves the Retail Mode battery charge for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. It also improves Software Version Reporting and in-car Bluetooth performance for Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL devices.
