We are less than an hour till the launch of Google’s much-rumored Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. But that hasn’t stopped the first official advertisement for the smartphones to surface online. The ad was apparently aired on television in Canada, and shows the upcoming phones in all their glory. Needless to say, this ad doesn’t quite reveal anything that we don’t know so far. The minute-long advertisement, spotted by 9To5Google, shows a white colored Google Pixel smartphone. Interestingly, the video leads users to a page (https://www.google.com/phone), which at the time of filing this story gives a 404 Not Found error. In all likelihood, this would be the landing page of the new Pixel smartphones that will go live after the launch. From what we know so far, Google will be launching two smartphones tonight — Pixel, and Pixel XL. Both smartphones look the same, and also boast the same set of specifications and features. The only difference, as the name suggests, is the size. The Pixel smartphone features a 5-inch display, while the Pixel XL features a 5.5-inch display.
Both devices come with a QHD resolution display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Pixel features a 2,770mAh battery, while the Pixel XL features a 3,450mAh battery. They are expected to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box. Prices for 32GB Google Pixel are expected to start at $649 (approximately Rs 43,200).
