Earlier this month, we learned that Google will reportedly drop Nexus products and the new smartphones will have Pixel moniker. Reports also state that Google has tasked HTC to manufacture the smartphones. Codenamed, Sailfish and Marlin, the smartphones are likely to be called Pixel and Pixel XL, respectively. Now, fresh new renders of both smartphones have also surfaced, showing off the smartphones from different angles. Firstly, the Google Pixel aka Sailfish has been leaked in a 360-degree render, courtesy of AndroidAuthority. The front-panel looks like the iPhone 6, minus the home button. The top has selfie camera, ambient light sensor and earpiece, followed by the display. The power / sleep button and volume rocker can be seen on the right edge, whereas the left edge has SIM card tray. Sides have smooth curve with chamfered edges. While the 3.5mm audio port is placed on the top, the bottom shows the USB Type-C connector flanked by opening for what looks like a dual-speaker setup. Turn to the back, and we can see the camera module with LED flash, the visible antenna bands and the circular fingerprint scanner. The back of the smartphone shows off the dual tone finishing. Google Pixel specifications
Based on the leaks that we have come across so far, the Pixel is likely to flaunt a 5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) display and could be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. With 32GB onboard storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera is also expected. On the connectivity front, a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE is also expected. The smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The HTC Marlin aka Pixel XL, has also been spotted by AndroidPure on Weibo in a clear case render. Design wise, the smartphone looks pretty similar to the Pixel, albeit, it s expected to come with a slightly larger and high-resolution display. The render shows 3.5mm audio port on the top, power and volume buttons on the right edge, and USB Type-C connector at the bottom. Interestingly, the back of the device shows camera module, LED flash, fingerprint scanner and Google s G logo at the bottom. The dual tone finish at the back is also visible here, just that the top portion seems to have a glossy finish, whereas the rest of the device has all metal design. Google Pixel XL specifications
The smartphone expected to feature a slightly larger 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display (1440×2560 pixels). It is likely to be powered by the same Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, as on the Pixel. In the storage department, 32GB and 128GB storage options are expected. While pricing and availability details aren t available at the moment, both smartphones are expected to be unveiled on October 4. A recent rumor also pointed at Google Pixel 7-inch tablet by Huawei, which could also make its debut at the event.
