According to a new report, Google Pixel users have been experiencing issues with the Google search bar on the home screen. Many have noted that the search bar isn’t displaying any suggestions or history when typing into it. While the glitch seems to be a minor one, being a frequently used feature, many Pixel users have been quite annoyed by it.
Android Police has stated that the problem seems to be occurring on the Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and the Pixel 2 XL. Not just Android 8.1 Oreo, but users running the Android P Developer Preview 4 have also been experiencing the problem. Currently, the bug has been spotted on Google app versions dubbed as 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52. However, there is a good chance that other versions are affected as well.
At the moment, the problem is said to be limited to the home screen widget. Google and Chrome apps are said to be working as usual. This means that users will have to open Chrome to search for information. Unfortunately, those who use the bar to get quick access to apps on their smartphone will have no other option but to use the app drawer.

While no official fix has been released yet, a Reddit user claims to have found a temporary fix for it by enabling Google Feed inside the Pixel launcher. However, this might not work for everybody as the user states to be using a Pixel 2 XL. Let’s hope Google addresses the problem soon and provides a solution for it.
