Last week, a UI engineer at Google offered us a glimpse of the redesigned Google Play Store UI, which has now started seeding to Android smartphone and tablets. The new interface brings the much needed content separation based on apps and entertainment, Android Wear icon for equivalent apps, and a refreshed look that s more in sync with Google s Material Design. Google has also added a smooth animation that replaces the heading and tags of the page. On the top of the page, you have the content curated by Google s Play Store team. That s not all; Google has also added an icon, just above the Read more, for apps that have an Android Wear equivalent. Clicking on read more, you get the app description, features and the icon again with a text that reads Enhanced for Android Wear.
Google has already started the rollout and some users have already started receiving the updated user interface. But as the update is being seeded steadily, it may take a while for it to reach your device. At the time of filing this story, we haven t received the updated interface on our devices. Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up the process to get the updated Play Store.
