With this update Android users will now get some new Google Now cards and an improved voice command support as well as a Siri-like conversation experience. Talking about the Siri-like functionality, Arstechnica highlighted that Google Search now reverts to verbally asked queries or given commands in a step-by-step conversation kind of a format. For instance, now you can ask it to send a text message and it would ask you for the contact and the message content.
Another important feature is that Google has also added some new Google Now cards with this update. The website card will notify you of any update posted on the website you often access. Then there is a news topic card which will update you with new articles on subjects or topics you are interested in. Same goes with the what to watch card, which offers Movie and TV recommendations while you are at home.
Besides these, the app will now get real-time traffic updates from Waze. After acquiring the Waze earlier this year, Google is now slowly adding Waze support to all its other services. Recently it had also added Waze integration to its Maps services for desktop.
This version of the app is available for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and above.
