India and Pakistan take on each other at every possible opportunity — be it the tensions at the borders, passion on the cricket field, or the internet. The culprit this time is Google as it goofs up with a search result causing unbound joy for our fellow Pakistanis. A media publication Daily Pakistan, very sternly reported that typing namak haram country on the Google search bar shows the Indian flag, hence listing India as a namak haram country . For all those who do not know what the term means, in simple sense it means treacherous which says that the country bears people who eat from its soil but are disloyal to the country. What s interesting here is that, the media publication rejoices on the fact that India is the search result of this term by saying, like majority of Pakistanis, the US-based tech giant considers India as a Namak Haram country. The reason why this goof up occurred is probably because there was a movie named Namak haraam released in 1973 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna and Rekha. What we also found out was that as per Google’s algorithm and design, if you type a movie s name and add country to it, then that particular movie’s country of origin’s flag is shown. For example Bourne Supremacy country , and the result shows US. This worked for most of the movies, you can go ahead and try it too.
What s even more interesting and rather hilarious is how a news channel broadcast this taking the matter very seriously. The video even shows that although people are saying that the cause behind this is because of the movie, Ya Google baba bhi Bharat ki harkato se he pareshan (Or Google is also fed up with India s actions). This only goes on to say how media publications can make a serious fool out of themselves by giving overshadowed objective opinions. You can watch the video below.
And before you know it, the incident went on to become a trend.

But not all took this the wrong way.
@omar_quraishi Google has mixed up 1973 Indian movie Namak Haraam with the country description, hence giving India this hilarious title.

Google must have realized its goof up and the search result has been fixed now. So even if you type namak haram country , Google does not show India as the search result. This is not the first time that Google has messed up their search result when it comes to India. Last year, Google had listed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the search result of Top 10 criminals and he topped the list. Google did apologize later for this unfortunate mess up. To make matters worse, just a month later, Google again goofed up in search results and the victim was Narendra Modi yet again. This time, the search result was for Top 10 criminals of the world and Modi made it to the list. But joining him was other Prime Ministers were Tony Abbott, Abhisit Vejjajiva and British Prime Minister David Cameroon. Looks like Google does not have the answers to everything, or does it?
