Many smartphone manufacturers in the last few years have abandoned the 3.5mm headphone jack on their flagship smartphones. One of them is Google, who brought in the change with its Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. While the reason behind this is to embrace wireless headphones, Google thankfully does provide a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor for those who want to use wired headphones. Now, a new report from Android Police states that Google has quietly updated the audio dongle and is also bringing in a few changes. The new adaptor has currently been spotted on Google Store, where it is priced at $12 (approximately Rs 870), which is $3 (approximately Rs 220) more than the previous variant. However, there are said to be some improvements. The new dongle according to Google s claims offers 53 percent lower latency and 38 percent longer playback time compared to its predecessor. Not just that, Google also seems to have made it shorter this time around at 3.67-inch, which should make it a little better to the carry around in your pocket. It also features a width of 0.46 inches and weighs barely about 4.9 grams. Google is only offering the cable in White color, like all its cables. While it should be compatible with all devices, Google says it works best with Pixel smartphones and other devices running Android 9 Pie OS.

The increase in price does seem to be justified by the improvements, but if you do not want to invest in Google s original adaptor, then you can also look for other third-party adaptors. It is possible to get them for a lot cheaper on Amazon India. Not to mention, you also get the option of choosing a different color. That said, these dongles might not offer the same performance as the original though.
