With the introduction of Pixel 2 XL, Google moved the search bar from top half to the bottom half. Now, with Android Pie, the company integrated recent apps screen with the launcher, allowing seamless transition between installed and recent apps. As of now, there is no word on whether or not Google plans to revamp the launcher yet again, but it seems like we may see some changes with the Pixel 3 smartphones. XDA-Developers, obtained an updated version of the Pixel Launcher which comes with one small change. The microphone icon on the right corner of the search bar now has the Google Assistant icon. This change was spotted in version 9-4889482 on the Pixel 2.
Google recently rolled out the final version of Android 9.0 Pie, which removed the microphone icon from the launcher s search bar. However, looking at the Pixel Launcher s updated version, it seems like Google plans to bring the updated version with the Assistant icon. There is no word on when it will be rolled out to the users.
