The Google Translate app got an update in December last year that brought along real-time translation of voice and text, turbocharging the apps usability, and making it a must have while travelling to countries. Now the tech giant has released a video to announce Google Translate’s success since then, as it now translates over 100 billion words everyday across the globe.
The video is a montage of various people using the Translate app to understand the roads in a foreign country, translating foreign text on a billboard or even to just say ‘Thank You’. Google also informed that the most translated phrases are ‘I love you’ and ‘Thank you’.
The Translate app offers services in 90 languages and even works offline while traveling. The video also showcases the many features of the app, for example the recently added multilingual mode where two people can hold a pseudo-conversation in a different language with Google Translate instantly identifying the language and giving out its translation.
The real-time voice and text translation came to Google Translate courtesy of Google’s acquisition of Word Lens, which already had much of this functionality in place.
