Google has just launched a new version of its Files Go app along with a number of new features. To recall, Files Go app is its smart storage manager that is aimed at its entry-level Android Go devices. The company initially launched the app back in December last year along with Google Go app. The app is meant to help users free up space, find files faster and share files offline with people nearby. Files Go comes with a simple interface that can give users quick insights about all the files and folders on their device. The Files Go app is also said to create a closed network that can be accessible only by approved smartphones in any particular area to share files by creating a hotspot. Google claims that the files transfers are 200 times faster than Bluetooth transfers. According to the latest update, Files Go can extract ZIP files and also clean up video files. Diving in the details about the new updates to Files Go app, Googe has added a dedicated Share tab in the app so that users can easily start sharing their files. The changelog also pointed out that Google has worked on improving the transfer speeds in the app and now Files Go supports faster offline sharing with speeds up to 455 Mbps from the previous speed of up to 125Mbps . This marks a 4x decrease in the time that it would generally take to transfer files.
The latest version also comes with the ability to clean up videos from the Clean tab. These updates came weeks after Google introduced Google Photos integration in the Files Go app.
