Google has just updated its “Find My Device” app for Android with support for indoor maps. This means that the app can exactly show where the user left their smartphone in some buildings including airports, and malls. This is likely to increase the chances of discovery of the lost device as users won’t have to guess where their phone is. To be clear, this will not really guarantee that you will get your device but it will make the process much easier. The update also added support for work profile which means that enterprises and companies can also install the update on the devices that they give to their employees.

The “Find My Device” app is extremely helpful for users who tend to misplace or forget their things. This app can also be used to locate the phone in users own home as they can use the “Play Sound” option to find the phone. Though, this is considering that the device is not switched off, and it is connected to the internet. Users can also lock their device with the help of the app using the “Secure Device” app to avoid any unauthorized access to the data on their devices.

However, the primary use of this app is to remove all the data from the device in case the user has lost their device or in cases where the phone is stolen. They can use the “Erase Device” option that is present in the app to ensure that Google will erase all the data from the device as and when the device is connected to the internet.

This report comes right around the time when another report indicated that Google is working on the next version of its mobile operating system Android.
