Ahead of the Black Friday sale, Google has taken over New York City’s Times Square with a new digital billboard, which it is using to promote Android, Android Central reports. The giant billboard spans over 25,000 square feet, is over eight stories tall, and has pixel density greater than 4K TV displays (It is made up of 24 million pixels and happens to be the highest resolution LED screen of its size in the world). If you live around the corner, you will see the billboard on Broadway between 45th Street and 46th Streets. The billboard will be seen by around 300,000 people each day. As if watching the Google ads on North America’s biggest screen wasn’t enough, you might even spot your own creation running on the screen. The search giant is displaying personalized Android characters created by users from across the world. In fact, you can create your own avatar on Google’s Androidify.com website. These characters will not only show up on the billboard, but you will also be able to buy tickets to play games with the characters on the huge billboard. In addition to all the fun stuff you can do on the billboard, Google is also using the opportunity to promote several nonprofits organizations including Khan Academy, Charity Waters, WWF, Donors Choose, Give Directly, and Made with Code. The company has booked the space through the New Year according to estimates, it will be spending a whopping $2.5 million in these four weeks.
