We are a few hours away from ushering in 2014 and Google has already got into celebratory mode with a New Year doodle. Unlike the more minimalistic Christmas doodles we saw last week, Google has gone all retro and chosen a disco theme for the New Year doodle.

This animated doodle shows the numbers 2, 0, 1 and 3 dancing, while the digit 4 (representing the year 2014) impatiently waiting on the sidelines, eager to get into the midst. Above the dancing digits are two big speakers and the word Google, with one of the O represented by a rotating disco ball. When you hover the mouse over the doodle, a message Happy New Year! pops out.

Below the doodle and the search bar there is another message from Google What did the world search for this year? followed by Remember the moments of 2013 , which is linked to the Google Zeitgeist 2013 page.
