Nexus smartphones: For the first time, Google will be unveiling two Nexus smartphones together in partnership with LG and Huawei. Both the smartphones have been subject to a lot of leaks, which have given us a fair idea on how they are going to look and the kind of specifications and features they will boast. Huawei Nexus 6P specifications and features: Huawei s Nexus smartphone is expected to be the bigger and more expensive variant among the two. From the numerous leaks we have come across, the smartphone boasts a metallic unibody design. At the back is a fingerprint scanner as well as an ugly bump at the top that houses the camera.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Nexus 6P is expected to flaunt a 5.7-inch display, which is surprisingly smaller than the 6-inch display on last year s Motorola Nexus 6. The display comes with a WQHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 64-bit octa-core processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB or 4GB of RAM.
Also on offer will be internal storage options like 32GB, 64GB and 128GB, dual front-facing speakers, a 3,450mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor. On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel or 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Connectivity options include single-SIM card slot, 4G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. On the software front, not surprisingly it will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
LG Nexus 5X specifications and features: The LG Nexus 5X will be smaller and less expensive than the Huawei Nexus 6P. It is the successor to the Nexus 5 launching two years back. In terms of design, it sort of resembles the Nexus 5 but with enough differences to help it stand out. There is a large camera bulge at the back, and a fingerprint sensor just below it.
The Nexus 5X s specifications and features were more or less confirmed by an accidental listing on Amazon India. It is expected to feature a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) IPS display, and will be powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
It is also expected to feature a 12.3-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 2,700mAh battery that is said to be good enough for up to 17 hours of talktime and up to 300 hours on standby mode. Connectivity options such as 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C port are present. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow.
The Nexus 5X is expected to come in two variants differentiated by their internal storage. Recent reports claim that the 16GB variant will be priced around $399 (approximately Rs 26,000), while the 32GB variant is expected to cost $449 (approximately Rs 29,300).
Google launched the first Chromecast two years back, and according to reports it is all set to launch the next-generation Chromecast. A blurry photo leaked online shows a completely new design, which to be honest looks a bit like a water balloon.
The new Chromecast is expected to bring in a slew of new features. It will come with a new feature called Fast Play , which will ensure that the new Chromecast connects to devices faster. It will also come with a much improved Wi-Fi, possibly the faster 802.11ac band. In comparison, the original Chromecast only supported 802.11b/g/n. Lastly, there might also be a new feature that will let you add content feeds to your home screen.
The report also says that Google could launch a second version of the Chromecast called, Chromecast Audio. This version will reportedly include an aux port, which can be used to connect to speakers. It is also expected to bring multi-room support and feature high-quality audio.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
There s not a lot that left that Google has to reveal about its latest Android operating system. We have already listed the improvements and features that will be introduced on the Marshmallow. The one thing however that we are looking forward to is the release date. Google s Nexus devices will be among the first to get the update, and reports claim that it could be as early as October 5.
As mentioned above, Google s event tomorrow kicks off at 9:30PM IST, and we will be covering every announcement in real time, so stay tuned.
