Google developing a smartwatch is not something new as we have heard murmurs about it since last year. But finally we might have some information which makes the prospect of a Google smartwatch much more a reality than before. According to TechCrunch, a few smartwatch prototypes have already been circulated in Google s offices for testing and the search giant is targeting a June launch. This is confirmed by serial leakster @evleaks, who claims that the company s first smartwatch is being built by LG and will be unveiled at the Google I/O.

The smartwatch, TechCrunch says, is being designed as an accessory rather than an independent device. In other words, it will be dependent on an Android smartphone to function. Google s philosophy behind the smartwatch is that you shouldn t need to take your phone out to see who sent a text, or an email among others. The smartwatch will instead display Google Now like notifications in conjunction with your smartphone and the UI is said to be very gesture-driven.
