Action cameras are perfect for novice photographers who want to record footage of various activities such as skydiving, bungee jumping and bike riding among others. However, editing those hours of footage can be a nightmare. The new Graava smart action camera is designed to solve this problem — it can do the editing for you.
Developed in partnership with Design Matters, Graava promises to take the tedious job of editing off your shoulders. This small, rectangular shaped camera tracks things such as sound, motion and position with five sensors. If you want, you can wear an optional heart rate monitor too. It helps the editing software algorithm know about a particular moment when you got excited and highlight it. Graava’s software can also make edits that match the beat of your favorite song, and instantly sync footage from multiple Graava cameras.
Depending on the available space, Graava can store up to three hours of footage. Equipped with a 130-degree wide-angle lens, the smart action camera can record high-resolution 720p (60fps) or 1080p (30fps) stabilized videos. Furthermore, it can also capture still images and hyperlapse videos at 8-megapixel resolution. There’s a 1,100mAh battery which the company claims is good enough to record uninterrupted 1080p footage for up to three hours. It also comes with wireless charging support.
With Graava, the company aims to change the way people share their experiences and those precious moments. Available for pre-order starting today, you can book a Graava camera for $249 (approximately Rs 16,000).
This is however an introductory price tag and the camera will eventually retail at $399 (approximately Rs 26,000). The idea behind this smart camera sounds very exciting and we’re eager to see how good it does the job. Unfortunately, even if you pre-order it now, it’s not expected to ship until February 2016.
