In light of the GST (Goods and Services Tax) reduction on certain goods in India, Xiaomi has revised the prices of its accessories including the Mi Power Bank, Mi Charger, and 2-in-1 USB cable to pass on the benefits to the consumer, which will be now available at reduced rates. Xiaomi India chief Manu Kumar Jain made the announcement through a tweet saying the money saved in supply chain efficiency, cost-cutting, or tax benefits was being passed on to buyers through the discounts.

“GST council announced a GST rate cut and it’s time we pass on the benefits to our beloved Mi Fans. Now you can get your favorite accessory at the price you have been dreaming of,” Xiaomi wrote in its community forum post.

Some of the accessories available at reduced rates on mi.com include the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank 2 (Black) which was originally priced at Rs 1,199 but post the price cut costs Rs 1,099. The Mi Business Backpack has received a price cut of Rs 200 and now costs Rs 1,299. The Mi Car Charger was originally retailing for Rs 799 but is now available at Rs 699. You can check the entire list of accessories which have received the price cut here.

It is worth mentioning that the new prices are available only on mi.com/in at the moment and partner e-commerce sites Flipkart and Amazon are yet to update the pricing.

The announcement arrives days after Xiaomi announced its third manufacturing plant in the country, further extending its ‘Make in India’ commitment. The facility is based in Noida and is also the company’s first ever unit for powerbanks. As part of the initiative, foreign brands which choose to operate by domestically manufacturing goods are eligible for tax benefits by the government. According to latest IDC data, Xiaomi also became the top smartphone vendor in India in Q3, 2017. The China-based company shared the leading spot with Samsung with 23.5 percent market share.
