The virtual world of video games has always been so much immersive that the divide between the virtual world and the real world starts becoming bleak. ArenaNet, the Guild Wars 2 game publisher seems to have hit the bull-eye when it comes to punishing a cheating player using hacks to easily win the multiplayer battles. The gamemaker not only deleted the hacker’s complete accounts along with advancements and achievements but also took the pains to strip him off and publicly execute him, in the game! The user, Darkside, has been teleporting around the game world, imparting staggering degree of damage and simply escaping them, a scenario which would be near impossible in Guild Wars 2 without hacking. Other players eventually got tired of him and teamed up to attack him, but all efforts went in vain as the virtual character would jump back to life every 10 seconds after he was killed. So the users captured the entire ordeal in a video and this caught the attention of ArenaNet employee who later told Mashable that he didn’t require to see in-game to figure out the culprit and further added that most of the times a well-captured video is enough to nab the culprit. The officials then stripped the character and paraded him on his undies for a while before he was made to wave and jump from a high tower. ArenaNet, instead of allowing the Darkside to respawn, deleted all his characters. The publisher also found out that DarkSide had other accounts, which were promptly deleted.
