With the Apple announcement just two hours away, the leaks are coming thick and fast. This time around it is an Apple accessory maker. CNET reports that HardCandy Cases have just announced a case for the iPad mini that will retail for $49.95. It is rare that an accessory maker who depends on Apple for its bread and butter would risk angering the Cupertino based company and launch a product that would basically betray what Apple plans to launch, but hey the folks at HardCandy Cases are clearly pretty confident.
Notably, this case is from the company’s ShockDrop line that provides for extra protection and the back-end of the case has a cut-away for a rear camera. This is actually against what we reported in our iPad mini rumor round up. On the whole, the case is quite similar to the case HardCandy makes for the iPad, so there nothing new out here, but it does post an image, which gives us a glimpse into the industrial design of the iPad mini.
Additionally, CNET notes that this not the first time the company has jumped the gun and launched a product ahead of an Apple announcement. Previously, it had launched an iPhone 5 case ahead of the iPhone 4S announcement. In short, we won’t be opening our wallets for HandCandy before Apple’s official announcement.
