Another day, another iPhone based leak is here. Just yesterday, we came across the alleged specifications of the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. From what we know so far, Apple is likely to upgrade the base storage from 16GB to 32GB, with other storage options likely to be 128GB and 256GB. Now, reliable leaker @stagueve has shared a photo of an iPhone 7 Plus related leaked document that confirms 256GB storage on the top end variant as well as the things Apple will be bundling inside the box. We have heard for a long time that Apple is doing away with the traditional 3.5mm audio jack and how audio will be routed using the Lightning connector port instead. The leaked document confirms the same as the iPhone 7 Plus box would have EarPods with Lightning connector instead of those with a 3.5mm pin. This is enough evidence to confirm that the new iPhones will come without the 3.5mm audio jack.
But Apple is not leaving users with legacy 3.5mm audio devices frustrated. The document also reveals that a Lightning to headphone jack adapter will also come along in the box. This will be a good move for Apple, considering many, including co-founder Steve Wozniack, believe that Apple could tick off many users by letting go of the 3.5mm audio jack. The interesting bit, however, is that Apple could bundle the adapter with the phone, and not sell it as an optional accessory, which it did with the Lightning to 30-Pin adapter when it moved from the 30-Pin connector to Lightning with the iPhone 5. Apple still sells that for $29 in the US.
Coming to the rest of the specifications, the iPhone 7 is expected to come with a 4.7-inch HD display, Apple s 64-bit A10 processor with M10 motion coprocessor and 2GB of RAM, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to come with 5.5-inch full HD display, same processor as the iPhone 7, but with slightly larger 3GB of RAM. The A10 processor could be built on 16nm fabrication process, Apple is likely to source it from TSMC. In terms of storage, the new iPhones are likely to come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage. In the photography department, both new iPhones are expected to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/1.9, which is larger than the existing iPhone 6s-family that features an aperture of f/2.2. There is expected to be a small difference in the sensor size – the iPhone 7 could come with 1/2.6-inch sensor, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus could sport a 1/3-inch sensor. Other than these changes, the iPhone 7 is expected to gain support for optical image stabilization, whereas the Plus variant is likely to come with dual camera setup at the back.
