Last week, Apple introduced a refreshed lineup of 12-inch Retina MacBook with better internals, and Rose Gold color option as well. While there is little differentiating the overall design and form factor, the folks at iFixit have torn down the new MacBook to bits to see what’s inside. For those wondering, the laptop is still as difficult and expensive to repair as ever. Also Read - Common marketing gimmicks that brands should avoid to exploit consumers

One of the first things to note is that the new 12-inch MacBooks are identical to their predecessors. The only difference is the Rose Gold color, and this is more than just skin deep. In other words, the new MacBook is as pink-ish on the inside as it is outside.

The new MacBooks retain the same thin chassis, one USB Type-C port, Force Touch trackpad and edge-to-edge keyboard design intact. They are now powered by Intel s latest sixth-generation Skylake processors paired with Intel HD Graphics 515 and battery that Apple says is good enough for up to 10 hours. Apple has also made 8GB of RAM a standard across all variants.

Other than the upgraded internals the iFixit team says that everything under the hood is the same. This also means that like last year’s MacBook, this new laptop too is very difficult to repair. It is little wonder then the team has given the new MacBooks a score of only 1 out of 10.

The refreshed MacBook is now available at Apple authorized stores in India with prices starting from Rs 106,900. In addition to the upgraded internals, the new MacBooks are also preloaded with OS X El Capitan, and software like iMovie, GarageBand, and the iWork suite of productivity apps.
