Here's what people who played Super Mario Run think about the game

iOS users just can not keep their hands off their phones anymore.

Announced back in the fall Apple event, Nintendo yesterday rolled out its legendary Super Mario game for iOS, called the Super Mario Run. Unfortunately for Android users, the game app has been launched with an early Apple exclusivity, and there is no information on when it will debut on Android. Fortunately for iOS users, Super Mario Run is available for free on the Apple App Store, and for just Rs 620 they can unlock all content of the game. (Without the unlock, gamers can only play through three levels before being rate limited to 20-second try-outs.)

Naturally, people are going absolutely bonkers about the game. How bonkers? At the time of writing the story, Super Mario Run was the third most popular free app on the India App Store, and this is all within a day of the game’s release. The craze is another level in the US, with Super Mario Run being listed as the most popular free app on the US iOS App Store, while at the same time coming in at No 1 on the highest grossing list, Apple Insider reported.

iOS users also took their happiness for Super Mario Run’s debut on social media, celebrating their excitement, while at the same time mocking the Android users.

Super Mario Run brings the world’s most famous little plumber to iOS devices. Interestingly, the app comes with a one-hand usability feature. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running on iOS 8.0 and above. The full unlocked version of the game consists of three modes. The first is World Tour, second is the Toad Rally, and third the Kingdom Builder. ALSO READ: Super Mario Run launched; here are our first impressions

In the World Tour, you have to run and jump to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser’s clutches, and travel through plains, caverns, haunted houses, airships, castles and more. There are six worlds to clear which are filled with 24 courses. The second mode which is Toad Rally, is actually a challenge mode wherein the competition differs each time you play. As you compete against other players and gather coins, a crowd of Toads will cheer for you and if you’re impressive enough, the Toads may come alive in your kingdom. ALSO READ: Here’s the real reason why Super Mario Run is not on Android

Also, a fun fact. Do you know what really inspired Nintendo to launch a Mario game for the mobile platform? Well, Shigeru Miyamoto, also known as father of Mario, gives credits to his wife for the launch. Miyamoto said that inspiration to bring the console game to iOS was drawn by observing people around him. “It’s a little bit less of my own experience and more of me witnessing other people. A perfect example is my wife. When I give her video games or game systems, she doesn’t play a whole lot. But I watch her on her smartphone, and she does a lot of those types of things on her smartphone,” he said in an interview to The Verge.
