Google is hosting an event on September 29, where it is expected to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow, alongside the new Nexus smartphones. While it’s not clear as to when the new Android version will start rolling out, Canadian Carrier Telus says it will be available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 devices from October 5.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings along some nifty features such as app permissions, custom Chrome tabs, app links and Android Pay. The new mobile operating system also brings native support for fingerprint scanner, doze feature to improve battery life when device is idle and to support for USB Type-C connector. At the event, Google is also expected to launch two new Nexus devices, the Nexus 5X made by LG and the Nexus 6P made by Huawei. Next-gen Chromecast is also expected to be launched alongside the Nexus devices.
We’ve recently came across leaked press images that confirmed the name Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. These leaked images also shed some light on the design and color variants of the upcoming smartphones. The LG Nexus 5X was accidentally listed on Amazon India, which revealed some of the specifications and features of the forthcoming smartphone.
