“To wear something, it has to be incredibly personal. It had to reflect your taste and express oneself. Most tech companies look at this as only technology. We recognise that technology in itself is not sufficient. It had to have a style element, because it is connected to your body. It is a part of you, just like the clothes or shoes you wear,” he said. Moving on to technology, he added, “Along with style, the technology is top-notch. There is literally a computer on a chip in the Apple Watch. We have added 400-500 components wrapped in one. Even though it requires an iPhone to work, it still works with Bluetooth which allows you to pair with the Watch and listen to music.”
Recognizing that Healthcare business is a huge sector of the economy, Cook stressed on the need to use technology to improve and enrich lives.
“There is a wide open field to make some profound contributions in the health care sector. By announcing HealthKit in June, we wanted to aggregate all the health data collected by various health apps to give you a comprehensive diagnosis for the benefit of your doctor and you. Additionally, now the Apple Watch will also gather fitness data empowering you even more to take care of yourself over time, and when you need help, it empowers your doctor to diagnose better with the help of the gathered data,” he said.
The interview is divided into two parts and the second part is slated to come out today. Tim Cook revealed that the Apple Watch is the most personal device they’ve ever created. He mentioned that a dedicated intense team had been working on the timepiece for three years.
