Nokia looks all set to launch a new smartphone on August 21. The company has started teasing the launch on Twitter, and the caption reads “one of the most awaited phones”. Yes, it sounds mysterious, but if rumors are to be believed, this could be the Nokia 9 flagship smartphone that we’ve been hearing about for quite a while.
The Nokia 9 has been leaked on a number of occasions, and the past leak hinted that it could sport a triple-camera setup like the Huawei P20 Pro. The smartphone is also believed to come with Snapdragon 845 SoC, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Nokia teaser on Twitter just shows an outline of the phone, with a shimmering light behind it. It is hard to guess, but considering the launch is less than five days away, we won’t have to wait longer for the device.

Based on the previous leak, the camera setup could comprise of a 41-megapixel primary camera with OIS, wide-angle lens and dual aperture f/1.5 to f/2.4, just like the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9. It will most likely be supplemented by a 20-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens, with OIS and f/2.4 aperture.

The third camera could be a monochrome sensor of 9.7-megapixel resolution, just like the P20 Pro. The camera could also offer 4x optical zoom capabilities. For selfie lovers, a 21-megapixel front camera with ZEISS optics is expected.
Besides the camera, the smartphone could feature a 6.1-inch QHD AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. With 3,900mAh battery, fast charging and wireless fast charging, the Nokia 9 is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. And given HMD Global‘s commitment towards software updates, we won’t be surprised if it turns out to be the first Nokia phone to come with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.
