Finally, there is a possible date for the launch of HMD Global‘s much anticipated Nokia 8 flagship smartphone. The company has reportedly started sending out invites to select members of the press for an ‘exclusive gathering’ to check out ‘the next milestone for Nokia phones.’ The event will be held on August 16 in London at 7.30PM local time (12 AM IST). Earlier, it was expected that the smartphone will debut on July 31. However, latest reports appear to contradict that. Although the invite does not explicitly mention Nokia 8 but considering the series of leaks surrounding the smartphone, including an accidental leak by the company itself, in all likelihood it will be indeed the awaited smartphone.
The Nokia 8 is believed to be HMD Global’s flagship Android smartphone to boast top-tier features. The company resurrected the Nokia brand with the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 mid-range Android smartphones along with the redesigned Nokia 3310 to instill nostalgia among fans. Now that there is sufficient interest from the industry and customers alike, it is the apt time for the company to introduce its next bet through Nokia 8.
Based on prior leaks and reports, the Nokia 8 will boast Carl Zeiss-powered dual rear camera module as one of its key features. In addition to that, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with up to 6GB of RAM. While the official pricing is yet to be announced, speculations indicate towards a premium price tag of around 589 Euros which translates to approximately Rs 44,000.
Similar to the other Nokia-branded Android smartphones, the Nokia 8 will be restricted to a few markets first. Given the launch is in London, we might see it making to the UK and US markets before trickling down to other markets including India and home country China.
