After launching the Honor 5X and the Holly 2 Plus earlier this year, Huawei‘s Honor today launched another affordable smartphone in China, called Honor 5C. As the name suggests, it is the successor to the Honor 4C launched in India last year. Unlike its predecessor, this new smartphone comes with a metal-clad body and good specs, for a relatively affordable price tag. Though the smartphone has gone on sale in China, there is no word on a global availability. Also Read - Samsung takes lead from Apple in Q1 2021 smartphone shipments: Canalys

Also on offer is 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
On the photography front, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel snapper at the back with f/2.0 aperture along with a LED flash, while up front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The Honor 5C also features a 3,000mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner placed below the rear camera, FM Radio and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS, GLONASS. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under EMUI 4.1.
Interestingly, the specifications and features of the smartphones are similar to the yet-to-be-launched Huawei P9 Lite smartphone. This smartphone too features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Kirin 650 octa-core chipset, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory along with microSD card slot. The P9 Lite also features a 13-megapixel snapper at the back, 8-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support. On the software front it too will run on Android Marshmallow.
We will wait to see when Honor plans to launch the Honor 5C in India, and more importantly which variant. Going by the current trend, only the 4G variant will make sense and at this range it will face competition from the likes of the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 to name a few.
