  • It will be available exclusively via Flipkart.

  • The first sale is on May 29.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor unveiled two new smartphones in India the Honor 7A and 7C. Among these, the more affordable device is the Honor 7A, which is being targeted at the sub- Rs 9,000 price segment. To begin with, the design of the smartphone follows what has pretty much become the norm. At least for its price point. The front of the device has a reduced bezel and chin adhering to the current trend. It even minimizes the bezels on the side. The forehead of the device houses the 8-megapixel camera, LED Flash, and the proximity sensor along with the earpiece. Also Read - Huawei Mate 40 Pro seen in alleged live images

The right-hand panel of the device is where the volume rockers and the power button is set while the left-hand panel houses the SIM slot. The rear panel of the device has the branding on the bottom and the fingerprint scanner on the center. The dual camera setup of 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel along with the LED flash are on the top left corner. The antenna lines run straight across the top and the bottom half of the phone. The device comes with rounded edges, which makes it comfortable to hold in one s hand. The metal unibody of the smartphone has a matte finish, which reduces the fingerprints on it and is considerably easy to hold.

Coming to the UI, the Honor 7A comes with EMUI 8.0 and there are hardly any changes in the appearance of it from its predecessors. There is no app drawer and the home screen houses all the app icons.

If we were to talk about what s inside the phone, it seems a fair deal at this price segment. The Honor 7A is powered by a 3,000mAh battery that runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC running at 1.8GHz with an Adreno 505 GPU. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. And this seems to produce a rather smooth experience in the short testing that I did at the launch event.

The dual rear camera setup was pretty good for this price segment and though the light was rather dull, it seemed to take photos just fine. The front camera seemed to soften out things even if the beauty mode was brought down to the lowest. Due to very loud music, I could not test out the speakers in the bottom of the device and that will be something we will be discussing in our full review.

To sum it up, the Honor 7A seems a very viable device for its price at first glance. The camera seems nice and with a big and bright display, it ought to do well. But we will be able to give a concrete opinion once we have reviewed the device and don t forget to come back for that.
