Huawei has already confirmed that its next budget smartphone under the Honor brand will debut on April 2. The Chinese smartphone maker has also confirmed that it will be the Honor 7A. Now, new renders posted by Slashleaks reveal what the budget smartphone will look like when it gets official next week. The renders show that Huawei Honor 7A will have a design similar to that Honor 8 Pro with full metal unibody chassis. However, the Honor 7A will jump to a modern 18:9 aspect ratio with narrower bezels surrounding the upper and lower part of the display. The side bezels seem to have been retained, which could be due to its price. The report claims it will feature a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The renders also show that the front of the device houses a selfie camera accompanied by a front-facing LED flash. On the back, there is a horizontally stacked single rear camera system with LED flash and what looks like support for phase detection autofocus. The rear camera system has been designed in such a way that the smartphone seems to appear to have dual cameras.
The back also features Honor branding followed by trademarks of the device. Slashleaks claims that the smartphone measures 152.4 x 73 x 7.8 mm in dimensions.
In terms of specifications, the Honor 7A is expected to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC from Qualcomm, which is surprising considering the fact that Huawei has its own in-house called Kirin fabricated by HiSilicon in Shenzhen. The Honor 7A is expected to come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, the Honor 7A is said to offer a single 13-megapixel camera at the back and a combination of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors at the front. The Honor 7A is said to pack a 3,000mAh battery and the official teaser for the device hints at stereo speaker support. The Honor 7A is also expected to support face unlock feature and AR features in the camera app.
Huawei has grown to become the leading smartphone maker in China on the back of strong demand for its Honor-branded smartphones. The company has populated the market with a wide array of smartphones featuring 18:9 displays in the past few months and Honor 7A will serve as another addition to its range of budget devices.
