Last month, Huawei sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 7C smartphone in China. Today, the company has launched yet another budget device in its home country, called the Honor 7A.

As the name suggests, the Honor 7A is the successor to last year’s Honor 6A. The new smartphone doesn’t bring about a lot of changes under the hood. Instead, Honor seems to have focused on aesthetic changes, including giving the new smartphone a more contemporary 18:9 aspect ratio display.

Honor 7A prices, availability

Just like its predecessor, the new Honor 7A too has been launched in two variants. The base variant featuring 32GB storage and 2GB RAM is priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8,300). The top variant featuring 32GB storage and 3GB RAM is priced at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,300).

There is an option to expand the internal storage by using a microSD card. Buyers will be able to choose from three color options – Aurora Blue, Black, and Platinum Gold. The smartphone is set to go on sale in China starting tomorrow.

Honor 7A specifications, features

The highlight of the Honor 7A is no doubt its display – 5.7-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC. Making sure everything ticks is a 3,000mAh battery.

For photography, the Honor 7A is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the 3GB RAM variant. This setup includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The 2GB RAM variant, on the other hand, has to make do with a single 13-megapixel snapper. The rear cameras are backed up by AI-based features, and also boast bokeh modes. For selfies, the two smartphone variants feature an 8-megapixel front snapper accompanied by a soft selfie light.

As far as security is concerned, there is a fingerprint sensor placed at the back. The smartphone also supports face unlock feature. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo wrapped under EMUI 8.0.

In comparison, last year’s Honor 6A was launched with features like 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 430 octa-core chipset, and came in two variants – 16GB with 2GB RAM, and 32GB with 3GB RAM. The smartphone also featured a 13-megapixel rear snapper, 5-megapixel selfie snapper, 3,020mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, and it ran Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box.
