Honor, Huawei’s e-brand has launched a new entry-level smartphone in India. The company has launched Honor 7S as its rival to Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A and Infinix Smart 2 in the country. The smartphone was launched via a live broadcast where the company also detailed its plans for the Indian market.
Honor has been one of the fastest growing smartphone brands in the country. According to Counterpoint Research, Honor recorded 188 percent growth in shipments during the second quarter of 2018. The company is believed to be doing better than its rivals in the entry-level and mid-range price segments. With the Honor 7S, Honor is further strengthening its product portfolio, and enters one of the fastest growing segments in terms of price.
Honor 7S Price in India
Honor 7S will be another smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker that will fall in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment. Honor 7S, which is available in only one storage variant, retails at €119 (around Rs 9,900). In India, the smartphone is priced at Rs 6,999, making it another budget smartphone aimed to take on the likes of Redmi 5A. The Honor 7S launch comes right on the heels of Redmi 6A, which will be made official at an event in New Delhi tomorrow. The Honor 7S will go on its first sale at 12:00PM on September 14.
Honor 7S Specifications and Features
Honor 7S is not a new smartphone, and is basically a rebranded version of Honor 7 Play available in the Chinese market since May. The smartphone was recently launched for the global market in the name of Honor 7S. It is an entry-level device that seems modest in terms of specifications and features.
The Honor 7S sports a 5.45-inch display with a HD+ resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The smartphone does not feature a notched display, and supports 18:9 aspect ratio instead. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6739 CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage. It also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot.
It features single 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection auto-focus and LED flash. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with dedicated LED flash. The smartphone also supports face unlock via its front-facing camera.

In China, Honor offers the smartphone with a higher resolution 24-megapixel image sensor. The Honor 7S supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. It lacks fingerprint sensor, and runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top of it. The Honor 7S is backed by a 3,020mAh battery and will be available only in blue color variant.
