Huawei sub-brand Honor had recently revealed a list of its smartphones that would get the Android Oreo update. Sticking to its promise, the Chinese company has started rolling out Oreo update for last year’s Honor 7X.

What’s new?

In the update changelog, Honor says that Android Oreo brings with it a “lot of great features and improvements to make your device more intuitive, faster and safer.” Some of the new features being introduced with the update include a new floating navigation dock, which lets users do their frequent tasks from anywhere on the screen. To enable this feature, head over to Settings > System > System Navigation > Navigation dock.

There’s also improved protection against accidental screen touches, the ability to sync career details of users’ LinkedIn contacts with the phone’s contacts and email apps, a redesigned settings menu, and a more simplified Phone Manager with improved device cleanups. Lastly, the update also enables VoLTE capabilities with Vodafone, Idea Cellular, and Airtel.

The Oreo update is 2.49GB in size, so we recommend you have a stable connection for the update process. Being a major update, it is also advisable to keep your phone connected to a power supply till the process is complete. If you have not received a notification of the OTA update yet, you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings -> Phone Information -> Software Update.
