Huawei s sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 8 Pro in April, and now it looks like the smartphone might hit the Indian shores very soon. Honor, has announced a collaboration with GoPro for its upcoming smartphone, the Honor 8 Pro. As a result of this partnership, the GoPro Quik Mobile video editing app will come pre-installed on the upcoming Honor 8 Pro. The partnership will enable editing videos through Quik app. This app will pull the pictures and videos from a new featurewithin the gallery app on Honor 8 Pro. The gallery of the Honor 8 Pro will come with a new feature called Highlights , which automatically selects photos and videos for the user. The app will further customize your image and video with additional filters, transitions and effects. The company has stated that the Honor 8 Pro sports the 4th generation dual-camera system, allowing users to capture images of superior quality and with radiant colors.
As the name suggests, the Honor 8 Pro is an upgrade to the Honor 8 and comes with better specifications in terms of battery, RAM and OS. In April, the Honor 8 Pro was launched only in select markets such as UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Switzerland for 549 Euros (Approximately Rs 38,000).
The Honor 8 Pro comes with a pair of 12-megapixel sensors. While one sensor captures in RGB, the other captures details in monochrome, just like the camera system on the Honor 8. The rear camera setup with f/2.2 aperture further includes laser auto-focus, LED flash, and is capable of 4K video recording. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfies camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Honor 8 Pro specifications and features
In terms of specifications, the Honor 8 Pro will feature a 5.7-inch QHD (1440 2560 pixels) LTPS LCD display. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Huawei s own Kirin 960 octa-core processor paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. There is no confirmed word on the internal storage of the device.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, rear fingerprint sensor, NFC, USB Type-C, 4G LTE support, and Bluetooth 4.2. Fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 layered above. ALSO READ: Honor 8 Review
To put things into perspective, the Honor 8 Pro is expected to be a beefed-up version of the Honor 8, which was launched in India last year at Rs 29,999. The Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) screen, and is powered by the Kirin 950 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Honor 8 is has a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top. The camera is the same as the Honor 8 Pro, with two 12-megapixel sensors at the rear.
